ATPL Questions

In modular education, the stages of training can take place in different institutions and spread over time. In integrated education, training is combined in a single institution and requires continuity.

Modular ATPL training consists of PPL, PIC, ATPL Theory, NVFR, IR, CPL and ME stages.

The SEP(A) authorization on the CPL(A) you have received as a result of this training is valid for 2 years, while the IR(A) and ME(A) are valid for 1 year. To extend your license, you must make a renewal flight before or after the expiry of the respective validity periods.

You do not need to speak English during the first 4 months of training, but you must have English proficiency at ICAO Level 4 before commercial pilot training. It is advisable to improve your English while studying.

The course starts with PPL theoretical training and continues with ATPL theoretical training after the PPL is issued. Frequently asked questions about ATPL theory can be found here.

Modular ATPL Training takes 14-18 months depending on the main factors such as individual performance, study discipline and meteorology.

In order for a person to become an airline pilot, he or she must receive ATPL training from flight schools. ATPL pilots can apply for jobs with airline companies.

A Private Pilot License – PPL(A) is the certificate you get when you finish the first stage of your pilot training. The flight authorizations you can perform with this certificate are indicated on the right side of your license. The meaning of SEP written in that section is as follows; It means the validity date when you can use piston-single engine – SEP class aircraft with a PPL license. In summary, in order to perform a flight, you need to check the validity dates in the authorizations section on the right side of your license. You are required to fly 1 hour with an instructor pilot or a check pilot.

Refresher flight: A flight performed by pilots who do not meet the requirements of the last period (having flown as dual controller or PIC within the last 90 days). SEP renewal flight, on the other hand, is the extension of the validity period of the authorization as a result of checking whether the pilot can maintain his/her flight skills with the flight instructor/examiner before or after the expiry of the validity period.
